Sevens rugby tactics

Sevens is a very unique game. The extra space creates a much quicker and open game compared to 15 a side rugby. As a result there are a number of different tactics that can be used that you wouldn't find in the 15 a side game. In this section I've highlighted a few different tactics you should consider using when playing sevens. The key to sevens rugby is about retaining possesion so the first few I've listed are around keeping possesion from a kick off and in open play.

Kick offs - how to get the ball back from the kick off in sevens.

Defence - how to stop the opposition breaking your line in the more expansive sevens pitch.

Keeping the ball in open play - how to retain possession in sevens rugby.

The Scrum - how to keep the ball or disrupt the opposition

Line-out technique - keep the ball and pass to the backs quickly

Mike Hook Kicking clinic - Mike Hook runs through drop kick technique

Jack Smales Scrum Move - Jack Smales England 7s star favourite move
