The Basics of Sevens Rugby

Sevens Rugby is a shortend version of the fifteen a side game. The game consists of seven players from each team and lasts for fourteen minutes seven minutes each way. This reduction in players and time creates a fast paced expansive game.

You still have all the main components of rugby but with less people. A scrum with three players from each team and a line out with three players from each team. The restarts and penalties are all the same and it's played on the same size pitch. To find out more about the tactics and how to play take a look through the navigation on the left.

Sevens Rugby originates from Melrose in Scotland when the club decided to run a seven’s tournament to raise money. The success of the tournament meant that other clubs soon held tournaments and the game grew.
